Law Firm Cost Per Lead: Yelp vs Angi vs Google Ads vs Top Organic Leads

What a lead costs a law firm on Google Ads, Google Local Services Ads, Avvo-type directories and exclusive lead vendors, shown as ranges, and how Pay-Per-Lead SEO compares.

Law Firm Cost Per Lead: Yelp vs Angi vs Google Ads vs Top Organic Leads

Law firms pay some of the highest costs per lead of any local business. The figures below are ranges from public vendor reports, not quotes. Legal advertising is regulated by each state bar, and nothing here is legal advice or a promise of any case outcome.

What a lead costs in law firm

Each cost per lead below is shown as a range from low to high, never a single number. Top Organic Leads (TOL) is shown in the same range as the exclusive-lead benchmark for this industry, and we do not quote a specific price on this page. The column Exclusive or shared compares like with like.

The directory figure comes from low-credibility sources, and the exclusive-vendor and Google ranges are agency claims. Treat all of them as rough ranges. Martindale-Avvo lists directory subscriptions from about $399 a month, which is a monthly fee and not a cost per lead (martindale-avvo.com).

Why exclusive leads cost more than shared leads

A shared lead goes to several businesses at once, so each one pays less, but you compete for the same caller. An exclusive lead goes to one business only. For a law firm the practical comparison is exclusive to exclusive: your own Google Ads traffic and dedicated exclusive vendors against exclusive leads from Pay-Per-Lead SEO. Shared directory leads sit at the low end of the price range because several firms receive the same inquiry. Angi standard leads are shared with several pros, so we do not compare them directly with an exclusive lead.

Google reports a cost per conversion. It counts every call, form and text message as a conversion, including spam, wrong numbers, vendors, job seekers and existing customers. Google Ads cost per lead figures for law are reported per conversion, and a legal inquiry that never turns into a consultation still counts.

TOL verifies every lead before you are asked to pay for it. In one TOL client's Despora.ai dashboard, 74 calls, forms and text messages produced 24 qualified leads, about 32%.

The cost per qualified lead is the reported cost per lead multiplied by all contacts divided by qualified leads. At 74 divided by 24, that is about 3.1 times the reported figure. For illustration only, a reported $100 would work out to about $308 per qualified lead.

This is an illustration of the verification gap from one client. It is not a Google Ads measurement and it does not describe your account.

How Despora.ai verifies, values and flags each lead

Despora.ai is our lead platform. The AI monitors each call, form and message, qualifies it, and assigns it a value. You can always review a lead and dispute it if you think the AI made a mistake. The AI is usually right, but the final say on whether a lead is billed stays with you. We never publish client names or personal details.

A Despora.ai client dashboard, October 18 to 30, 2026. Client names and contact details are redacted. 74 total leads, 24 approved.

Frequently asked questions

Why is a personal injury lead so much more expensive than an immigration lead?

Competition. Vendor reports put personal injury Google Ads leads at about $300 to $600 and immigration at about $90 to $180, because many more firms bid on injury searches and each case is worth more.

Are Avvo-type directory leads exclusive?

Usually not. The sources describe them as shared, often with 2 to 4 firms, which is why they cost less per lead.

Does TOL guarantee a case or a client?

No. We deliver qualified consultation requests you approve and pay for. Whether a lead becomes a client depends on your intake and the matter. Check your state bar rules on advertising.

Next steps

Pay-Per-Lead SEO has a flat $250 per month platform fee, and you pay only for qualified leads you approve. We back it with a 45-day performance guarantee. Law firms must follow their state bar advertising rules. We do not guarantee case results, and a lead is a request for a consultation, not a client.
